With late model vehicles how does the "average" thief get the vehicle started? Thieves have to simulate the key's internal algorithm in the ECU (immobilizer) to start a late model vehicle. No doubt it's possible, but is it that easy?
Did see the news where folks with keyless ignitions are vulnerable. Apparently thieves can read your keyless FOB's algorithm as you walk away from your vehicle. They copy your algorithm from afar, then use it to drive off with your vehicle.
As far as I know, they'd actually have to have possession of your key (to copy the internal algorithm) to do the same with a late model non-keyless (key required) ignition.
