Super Truss and AF 990

I have a 2016 AF 990 and will be towing a canoe trailer. My AF 990 has the Fox Landing, what length Super Truss is everyone using with their trailers?
  • I used a 24" supertruss with a 2010 AF990 for 5 years, it was just the right length.
But I didn't have the fox landing.
  • on my 990 I just measured I have 36" extension it cannot be any shorter u can get all different lengths

I have a longer camper than you, but my 2 peso's worth would be to get a longer one than you need. If you think you need 24, go 36.

The reason - Longer extension will move the trailer farther back from the TC. It will help tremendously when it comes to turning radius, backing up, jack-knifing, and just over all pucker-factor.

Agreed! I went with a 42" in my situation.

  • I would not think u would need super truss to pull canoe just get extension for your receiver. that's all I did for my snowmobile trailer
  • Our AF996 is externally the same size as your 990 and we use a 32" extension for towing with our Supertruss hitch. Originally we ordered the entire setup to work with the Fox Landing, but opted not to include it prior to taking delivery and the extension length did not change. Might give Wayne a call at Thunder RV for confirmation, he's a great guy and knows his stuff.
  • I have a 9 1/2 Host. I estimated the length when I originally bought mine. That was ok, but it extended past my bumper which was a bit of a pain to leave on since it impacts walking down the steps. The fix is to cut it off which is also something else to do!

If I was you, I'd install the hitch and measure after it is in place to determine where you want the end of the hitch to be when the ball mount is off.
