HiThis is a follow up to an earlier thread regarding members stating that they have successfully used a super truss and weight distributing hitch when pulling a trailer. I have a 20 ft enclosed car hauler with a very low tongue that is close to the ground when the two rear axles are level and the unit is parallel to the ground. It has a beavertail in the back so I cant crank the preload up. I think a traditional WDH with low slung load bars will scrape the ground?? I saw a weight distribution hitch unit called the recurve by camco that has the load bars above the trailer frame rails but it had mixed reviews. I also saw the wheel that forklift makes for the supertruss. I need some input on what to do. Thank you.

We have an H&H carhauler as you describe. We use a Reese WDH with no troubles. My bars are on the light side 500# for a 10K trailer but it works out. This way my bars are a little higher, more arch. I have not had trouble with scraping except to leave the driveway, we live on a hill and the street has lots of crown. What drags is the bottom ball mount, the nut of the ball. Maybe 20,000 miles on the road and no problems with the hitch. Its been all over the country, east of the Denver area.That reverse Camco WDH looks interesting, but not something that I need. I use a round bar WDH with my SuperTruss and 20' enclosed trailer without problems. It has 4" drop torsion axles with a beaver tail, so it probably sits as low as yours. I have the stinger pointed down with the hitch head in the lowest position to keep the trailer level.

Do what I did, flip the Beavertail up and then use the lowest two holes to mount the ball

I use a 24" extension. The bottom of the hitch head will drag going in & out of my driveway. The WD bars are level and straight with no curves to them. The bars have never dragged.

I use a 24" SuperTruss plus AirSafe coupler on a 16ft cargo trailer with 15" tires - old style low bars skratch a bit sometimes on stupid fuel station approaches.

I have a 20' car hauler and 21" or 24" Supertruss extension. The lower part of my ball mount will drag the ground (and carve up the asphalt) and angled driveways. It's done it a few times (5 or so) since 2012.

I'm going to install the Dexter Torsion Axle Lift kit this spring, just so I have more clearance with the trailer, for the "off the beaten path" places I like to go. Side benefit will be less likelihood that I will carve up the driveway entrances at gas stations, etc.

sorry no close ups installed ,I just removed this & the30k tork lift set up from the 2015 to , sell (reinstalling stock class 5). the new truck will have a stock class 5 with a reese 48 inch stinger when & if needed for lite duty towing needed

the two large holes in the center there to allow using this bar u-bolted to a hitch receiver or extensions tubes

54suds, got any closeups of your rear tiedown mounts? Is that a continuous piece of aluminum going through your hitch?

I have a 48'' extension....my round bars have scraped some pavement over the years. Just make sure the lowest thing is the bars and chains, not your wires. LOL.
