Super truss plus weight distribution hitch close to ground

Hi
This is a follow up to an earlier thread regarding members stating that they have successfully used a super truss and weight distributing hitch when pulling a trailer. I have a 20 ft enclosed car hauler with a very low tongue that is close to the ground when the two rear axles are level and the unit is parallel to the ground. It has a beavertail in the back so I cant crank the preload up. I think a traditional WDH with low slung load bars will scrape the ground?? I saw a weight distribution hitch unit called the recurve by camco that has the load bars above the trailer frame rails but it had mixed reviews. I also saw the wheel that forklift makes for the supertruss. I need some input on what to do. Thank you.

  • We have an H&H carhauler as you describe. We use a Reese WDH with no troubles. My bars are on the light side 500# for a 10K trailer but it works out. This way my bars are a little higher, more arch. I have not had trouble with scraping except to leave the driveway, we live on a hill and the street has lots of crown. What drags is the bottom ball mount, the nut of the ball. Maybe 20,000 miles on the road and no problems with the hitch. Its been all over the country, east of the Denver area.

That reverse Camco WDH looks interesting, but not something that I need.

    Good Luck.
