Surge protector with voltage protection?

I am trying to figure out which surge protector I need for our new TT.

I am looking at Progressive Industries website and they list two 30 amp units. One just a Surge protector and one Surge Protector with Voltage Protection.

Any thoughts on which one to get? My unit is 30 amp. I was thinking of the portable one, not the hard wired one.

  • Wise choice as the Progressive Industries is the best on the market and great support.
  • whatever you buy you should be spending $250 or so. If you spend $124 you bought the wrong one.

  • Thanks, I ordered one. When I have time I am going to watch all the video's on the Progressive site. As you all know, I am not very techie or handy.
  • We recently had the Progressive Industries 50A Surge Protector With Voltage Remote Display EMS-HW50C installed. For the cost of a T.V. you can protect your entire trailer. I like that this one installs inside the trailer so you can't see. Did not like the idea of someone walking off with it. There are pro's and con's to each style. Bottom line is protect your electronics which are found in everything these days.
  • I like the Progressive digital feedback window, but we already had the Surge Guard before I saw a progressive at an RV Rally. Voltage protection is a must! While in Maine, our Surge Guard shut off the power. I went and chked the pedestal power, and it was 158 volts! The three rigs on the same line ALL lost their plasma TVs and the fellow with an invertor had his go up in smoke.
IF I can't lock the pedestal cover to protect the Surge Guard, I will use our heavy 30amp 25ft. extension cord from the box to the Surge Guard, which I put behind my wheels so its not obvious I have one, but that's just me.
    Anybody ever had one stolen??

I vote for this one too.
    I have the 50amp model.
  • This is the one we use Surge Guard

No complaints and has tripped several times when at different campgrounds, which I assume protected us.
