To further the maint cost discussion. Very rough numbers of the round number of a million miles in personal vehicles since I started driving divided by number of oil changes (oil n filter only, not other services) multiplied by the about $100 in labor avg charge that some pay for a diesel oil change vs doing it yourself, I've saved about half the cost of a brand new pickup just in oil changes! Add in all other service items and some repairs and I have a free new diesel waiting somewhere for me!

Btw my rationale for doing my own work started by being raised without much $ and me n dad working on every ting just to keep it running.
Now, I make very good money and could easily afford to hire out about anything I need done, but I can't justify paying MORE per hour than I make for a service that requires considerably less skill, experience, education and risk than I have at my job!
Hired a house cleaner this past year. Wife in hospital for months, trying to be there all he time, take care of the kids and still work. Ok I'm farming out a good house cleanin!
$40/hr! Lol. That's what my journeyman Union iron workers, carpenters and operators make!
I cleaned the d@mn house myself!
