Also, as I said before, there is no way a tech can tell the difference between 15k oil at 6 months and 15k oil at 1 year for normal driving conditions. He wouldn't even be able to tell the difference with an oil analysis either. The only way he could tell is if you drive at low speed all the time, idle a lot, or drive in dusty conditions all the time which you should be changing every 6 months if you drive in those conditions. Also, as I said before, in all other applications for the 6.7L where Cummins states the interval is 15k miles, the time interval is 1 year. Only the applications that are at 7.5k mile interval have a 6 month time period. I will prove it when I get back to work on Monday.
No need to prove it to me. IIRC, on a RAM CTD forum, others have reported oil analyses every year with their annual oil changes and also say that there are no problems. So Ram (or whomever is doing the warranty work) should get similar results if they go to the trouble to test the oil.
If there were a problem, I suppose RAM might look at the truck's low mileage and demand to see proof of every 6 month oil changes, but surely they could be persuaded to do an oil analysis instead.
Thanks for the info.
