I can not tell from the Furrion website, but I will assume that by "advanced compressor technology" they are referring to a Danfoss-style compressor. If so, then this is good, but if it is just a regular house-style compressor then it will consume lots of power.
I converted over to a DC fridge/freezer that runs off Danfoss compressor and am super happy. Mine is a chest-style so retains the cold air much better when the doors are opened, but otherwise should be the same.
Running off 2 GC batts I lose less than 1 volt overnight (measured in tenths it is so little). The compressor will run less than 10 minutes per hour.
My GC batts are at least 3 yrs old now, but have always been on a quality multi-stage solar charger/controller, and I keep water topped off with distilled H2O.
I have minimal DC power demand otherwise, just fans, and sometimes LED light.
Do go solar asap, you will be happy.
On li-ion batts, yes, never charge to 100%. Never leave your phone on charge overnight, never charge it to 100% either. 90-98 is all I ever do and have long batt life.
As Ca Traveler said, you need 14.7 volts to charge batt from low to near high, then the charger should reduce voltage and charge much slower for the last little bit. A good MPPT solar charger wiil have many stages (I think 4 or 5) where the voltage changes as batt gets charged. A good charger will monitor the batt several times per second and give the voltage the batts require using smart tech...
You may can afford new batts often, but when out camping at night and a low batt situation happens you will want the best tech for your batts so you have power at night when u need it...
happy camping
I did some poking around on the Forest River forum, and it seems that the general consensus is this fridge uses a Danfoss-style compressor, but not the brand name.
I'll definitely report back what the voltage is when charging the batteries when they're low. If it's not charging properly, a new charger will be in my future I guess.
