When I started reading your post, I was going to say that but you caught yourself. You could consider a shelf on a metal frame that pivots out from the wall like a gate. Move gate to shelf, then swing against wall.
This is giving me an ideas. I don't have a garage for the camper/truck. but i do have the side of the house where the camper is stored. The "gate" idea could be enhanced with a sliding mechanism that is utilized when the gate is open. When the truck is in place, slide the gate/shelf out behind the truck tailgate, load the tailgate, slide gate/shelf toward side of house, and then rotate gate/shelf closed for storage. This would eliminate having a long gate the would need to reach behind the truck.
