- BedlamModeratorThe tailgate was the first thing I took off my pickup and the last thing to be put back on when I sold it 10 years later. Ford even did a good job painting my truck - The color still matched even though the truck sat outside and the tailgate was wrapped up in a blanket in the garage the entire time.
- I originally thought this "Man Step" was a gimmick but it turns out it's one of many great features that I love about my Super Duty.
Man Step
Ford's latest man step that is concealed in the tailgate is a very good design, however it appears the GM design seams very complicated and has a hint of Rube Goldberg roots. - GeoBoyExplorer

These are the reasons I can't consider GM when I purchase vehicles. Instead of being innovative and adding to the truck market, they attempt to stifle it with childish criticism. I will laugh when GM roles out their next aluminum half-ton with a turbo V6, and a tailgate step.
GM will come out with an aluminum cab and a steel bed, the BEST of both worlds, forget the step.:B - RPreebExplorer

My f150 came with a tg step by chance since it was not a special order. I love it. Did not realize how much till I used it.
Agree. I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't even know it was there until a friend with an older F-150 showed me his. Mine is a little different from his, but it works - not much else needs to be said. - ROBERTSUNRUSExplorer:) Hi, the GM step looks to be way over engineered. (this part is good) The handle looks wimpy and the handle clip is really cheap looking.

I thought that GM ad campaign was just about the dumbest thing ever. The integrated tailgate step is a fantastic idea.
I'm currently looking at getting a Bestop bumper step for my RAM 2500. Trucks have gotten so tall in recent years and it's just about a groin ripper to hike my short legs up in the bed. I need to get something like this to make it easier in and out of the truck.

I have the AMP version of this step. Great!! - hone_eagleExplorerFirst rule in advertising - never drawn attention to your competitor.
GM is still doing it with the aluminum bed campaign all the while they are readying their own next gen aluminum 1/2 ton.
Fans on GM forums nash their teeth over the brain dead marketing department . - LIKE2BUILDExplorerI thought that GM ad campaign was just about the dumbest thing ever. The integrated tailgate step is a fantastic idea.
