F350/450 with bed will bend. An F450 chassis cab frame will not.
Keep in mind that you can install a pickup bed on a F450 chassis. People here have done it. As far as the frame being exactly the same goes, wouldn't it mean that a F350 frame would be just as strong as a F450 chassis?
Finally, I just speculated they could be different considering the weight difference. If you have links that give the details, I'd like to see them. I was unsuccessful other than one post in another forum that suggested the curve of the frame rail is different in a F350 vs F450.
You can install a pickup bed on an F450 chassis cab with
extensive modification to the bed, the frame of the truck, or both.
Prior to the 2008 model year, you couldn't order an F450 with a bed from Ford. That year, they made two versions of the truck - one with the same frame rails as an F350, and the traditional chassis cab with straight, heavy-duty frame. The F450 with a factory bed isn't a "real" F450. It's just an F350 with stiffer springs.
My 2003 F450 (Truckasaurus) has a payload capacity of 8,100 pounds. That's over 4 tons in the bed. I don't think you could do that on an F350 frame for very long without ending up with a truck that looks like the OP's picture.
