TC Oven use - baking bread

There have been some long threads about how people use, or don't use, their ovens. I stumbled across a new use, baking bread.

A local bakery has come out with vacuum packed, long life (4 months+) bread loafs that you unwrap and bake for around 15 minutes. I packed one in my truck camper a month ago and tried it this weekend. Very nice to have fresh, hot, sourdough bread with almost no effort.

The breads I found are found here:

I have no idea how available these kind of breads are around the country but I'm hooked and added a few more loafs to the TC pantry.
  • The TC oven is not to be feared. We use it for everything. Roasts, baked potatoes, corn bread, scones, squash, quiche, just got a small sized baking tray I plan to use for pizza. The Essential bread is good stuff. Imagine that hot out of the oven with butter melting on it. What a treat that would be up in the hills. Use that to make some awesome french toast. We're still looking at doing Thanksgiving out of the TC this year. Just need to pick a spot to go. The coast is all booked up so trying to find an inspiring alternative.
  • The bread idea sounds GREAT!
We use our oven for all kinds of things. One of our favorites is a simple Bisquick coffee cake. Freash out of the oven....at some great boondock site....or as the mist raises off the lake. Great memories multiply every time.
We put together a simple "kit" with ingredients pre measured all in a large zip lock bag. Makes it real easy in our small kitchen. Even better, found it is more likly to happen that way!
Sounds like I need to find some of that bread now!

Yes! I have done this at my S&B. So delicious, and a great camping idea.
  • Several of the local grocers carry a product called "Take-and-Bake" which is the same principal. I have not tried any but the sourdough and it was very good.
  • Looks like good idea not only for RV.
    How much those thing cost?
Says some Costco will carry them
  • Psh I love cooking a frozen pizza or those frozen Lasagna that feed 5 or 6 in the oven. Mine gets used, will have to check out the bread!
