Dead reconing is the simplest method.
When I worked at Kenworth I periodically had to carry wide items through a narrow hall way. There was a line on the floor I knew if I followed I would not hit the protrusions on the side walls along the way. As long as the tape is on the wear line in the bed lift platform I know I am going straight in.
The old tricks like keep this lined up with that were all subject to paralax error because of distance and angle.. and looking rearward over the shoulder or mirror. Then backing into the TC steering a little this way and that way making use of the brail method of loading or tap squeek drag and go.
As long as the tape is on that line you're in. It's pretty simple and costs nothing.
