Oh no worries about offending me :) can't say that'd even be possible from an internet post! It's all good.
Onto the topic at hand, I tried to find my long post about why I wasn't going back to diesel from 2014ish, but I can't find it. At that time, my truck was used as a daily commuter, about 10 miles. Also back then, I was constantly reading here, and on other forums, about diesel truck issues - check engine lights mostly, and most of those were emissions junk related. I didn't want to deal with the DPF issues from a short commute in cold weather day after day. I was mostly a weekend warrior back then, and the gas engine warmed up faster in winter (it gets to -40 here), and had plenty of power to pull my 12k 5er with the 4.10 gears. The Hemi powered truck was also almost 10k cheaper (Canada) and I was buying new. So I could have had a stripped down diesel or a loaded gas truck. The gasser was just better suited to my needs BACK THEN.
I'm in a gasser now because I have a 17' hybrid TT, and I drive 5 miles to work every day. And it's the best truck I can afford for now. I give about 1/2 my after tax income away (divorce related expenses, alimony and child support).
The Hemi was & is a great power plant IMO, but I have always said that diesel engines are better for pulling (because they are) and would be best for a full timer. They also get better mpg when loaded.
I'm about 4 years from retirement from my LEO career, and I might just be selling everything and moving into an RV. You see, thanks to the divorce, I haven't got much left! Let me explain. I used to have lots of stuff we men collect. Toys for men. It all went away, and my new wife and I and a couple of dogs live in a small townhouse. It's in the background of my sig pic. 16' wide, shared walls, about 650 sq ft on each floor (2 storey), undeveloped concrete basement that we use for storage. It's 2 bedrooms and we only use 1. So I live and use about 900 sq ft and could easily go smaller. So that is what we are thinking of doing. RV full time, tiny house, something like that, and moving to the West Coast of Canada, maybe being a snowbird like my parents (Az). Just not sure yet. If the RV full time plan wins out, we will likely be getting about a 30' TT and will travel with it from Canada to the USA, to Alaska, etc. This is where the diesel becomes more attractive.
So I am just exploring my options, and my future use case might be better suited to a turbo diesel pickup.
