Gear ratio plays a huge role in the total braking effect and Ford's lower than 1.00:1 will certainly help at 55.
It would be interesting to see a locked in 4th gear test, even with 2/3 have 1:1 and 1 not. It would show the potential retarding power and be more indicative of braking at various speeds and conditions.
There are so many variables in trans ratios and tire sizes across the 3 that keeping the rear end ratio constant is moot, IMHO.
Not a bid for any one truck, just some observations and thoughts.
