Exactly. I've learned the cheap way (through reading post after post) about not leaving the awning out unattended. Wind can pickup in seconds.
Had a guy camped next to me last year jump in his truck and take a brief ride through the campground to get ice from the camp store. no one at the camp site. 15 minutes later, when he returned, I walked over and let him know I was the one that put his awning up as we looked at two others that flipped up on their campers roofs before I could get to those. One of them had a tear in their rubber roof from it.
Consider it a lesson learned cheaply. Glad not more damage was done.
