Awnings and wind are just a bad recipe in general. My last trip out my awning was out and I was sitting under it. It was a slightly breezy day but not quite enough to fly a kite. Next thing I know a big gust hits and forces a rafter pole to retract as the tube lifted up. Fortunately no real damage but I stowed it anyway for the rest of the trip.
