Hey, pnichols ~ Thanks for stopping in. Yes, that is a picture of me racing a real Shelby Competition Cobra, to an Overall Win and Class win at one of the “Top Ten Ranked Road Tracks” in the country. I raced vintage cars for over 20 years all over the United States and was very successful. But like many things, that is in my past. I still do driving instructing, around the country. Like highly tuned race cars, your more prepared trucks are going to have stiffer frames and suspension, like my F550. Yes, I have had my front wheel off the ground, due to frame rigidity, but not from Torque in acceleration, like the picture shows. Most recently on some of the areas around Valley of the Gods and Muley Point, in the Four Corners area of Utah.
River&Sand ~ It is always good to see you and spend time with you, this last May. You are right about the complexities of Xtreme boondocking and Fulltiming in a TC. Contrary to what some might romanticize, it does take work and a few missteps, thrown in. I am glad you are enjoying the stories and will continue to check out the articles I will be sharing, as time goes on. Movie? I have the looks for Radio that is for sure. A modern day story of the ilk of; “Travels with Charlie?” That is one I would go see.
RickW ~ Thank you. You summed it up perfectly. Living off the grid is a continuing work of problem solving, or as I describe; surmounting roadblocks. They are just simply something to work around, not a means to stop you.
Languiduck ~ Good to see you back. Yes, this article was more geared to the truck and boondocking. You might check out a recent article I wrote, for Truck Camper Magazine, that details some of the planning and process I went through to begin Full Timing. Try this link; TCM Part I TCM Part II
