- travelnutzExplorer IITotal and complete bull as it was staged on purpose as the Duramax clearly out pulled the other 2 up the Ike Gauntlet with ALL 3 pulling the same/equal matched load of total weight and did it with a 3.73 rear ratio while the other 2 had a torque force enhancing 4.10 rear ratio giving 10% more delivered rotational force and they still lost! Get real! The Dyno test done right measures the very same rotational force that had to be delivered as the up hill towing test and defies logic and known physics rules and proven laws.
Not even remotely possible for the Duramax to have won clearly with those fabricated or dumbed down numbers or massaged readings as was reported in this test. It's the delivered force that turns the drive wheels on all 3 trucks and the had Durmax won! Just try to explain how that could even be possible with those test reported numbers and show how little you know!
Actual delivered rotational force to the drive wheels is what and only what moves the load to any or all speeds! No magical other force or forces either. How dumb can some people be anyway? Maybe they'd slept at a Holiday Express last night? - FlashmanExplorer II

In the last Video about these trucks, the MPG towing test, the Ford had slightly worse economy out of all the trucks. Maybe this is why...it flat out puts more HP to the ground. Maybe there are other factors too. I'm not sure.
Thanks!

But on the first video Ford was slowest towing up the hill. So something is strange - most HP and yet slowest. - ScottGNomadPretty much impossible to accurately dyno those engines because there's no way to get enough air across the charge air coolers - which makes a huge difference.
- RCMAN46ExplorerIf the video is watched the rpm numbers are available for when the torque and horsepower numbers were obtained.
The most revealing curve was seen for the Ford at 5:51. I wish they had shown that curve for all three. The curves tell much more about what is going on. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIPercentage of advertised HP and TQ loss.
RAM
HP loss 12 percent
TQ loss 8
Ford
HP loss 12
TQ loss 13
GM
HP Loss 24
TQ loss 15
I ran my truck in LasVegas last May. I let my truck idle too long and had heat soak, I was told later. I hit 328 and the other similar trucks were at 340hp.
Can't wait til the 19 RAM comes out with their new emissions that are 100 percent down stream of the engine and are claiming 10 percent increase in HP and 20 percent increase in TQ just from the emissions getting off the engine. - Grit_dogNavigatorPerty impressive on all accounts.
Seems like a bad run for the LP5 though if that's what they tested. Or did they run a LML? Didn't watch the video. - jerem0621Explorer IIIn the last Video about these trucks, the MPG towing test, the Ford had slightly worse economy out of all the trucks. Jeremiah - billyray50ExplorerInteresting Video!
- donn0128Explorer IIMissing is the all important RPM at which those numbers were developed.
- ib516Explorer IIDid not expect those numbers!
