The problem consumers run into with the manufactures ratings is that they are confusing and difficult to apply to they’re particular situation. The SAE standard has done nothing to help consumers, it still is full of grey areas that TV manufactures exploit for the sake of marketing. Manufacturers purposely don’t specify certain specs and leave it to the consumers to interpret or calculate. Example what is the maximum pin weight I can put on my vehicle? My hitch/ pin weight is not 10% or 15% of TWR how do I apply my numbers to the ratings? If they came right out and answer those questions you would be disappointed.
