I know some people claim the temperature guages are glorified idiot lights..... designed only to read high once the temperature gets above a dangerously high level. Many oil pressure gauges are like this as well. Manufacturers don't want people complaining about their oil pressure dropping down to 5 psi during idle so the gauge lies.
I belong th the Turbo Diesel Register. They know stuff.
I go into the EVIC to see the temps I mentioned.
