YUP, that's one of the biggest reasons - some stuff is worth it, some is not, but we can only buy the 'worth not' stuff to get the 'worth it' stuff. Gone are the days we can buy just the options we want without ordering from factory and waiting forever, sometimes not even that.
Have no clue what wait time is on new truck - or price - equipped to order, but was once only six weeks.
Recently looked at the GM and build your own app. Priced a BYO truck at roughly $45K, then looked at dealers for a similar truck and found a few for $20K more, almost identical truck. I'm OK with a reasonable annual price raise, but not a wallet buster.
