Yesterday I started the rebuild of the flip-down bunk over the dinette. We will never use it for a bed so we decided to make it a better storage area.
This is how it was from the factory, 2 doors to a "storage/bunk" area that held the foam mattress' for when it was a bunk and a small storage area above them.

So I took the the flip-down part out and started framing it in.

Built a 10" wide shelf, in a 16" wide area, with a lip to keep things on it while traveling about half way up.

Framed it in to be able to re-use the origanal doors, with the split shelf area and an open area for a microwave or toaster oven to be done later.

Sheeted it with a luan covered 3/16's panel and reused the origanal doors and hardware. I need to do some trim work, and we will paint the whole interior, but wont start that part till after we get back from vacation. The storage is needed and the DW loves it.
