This should settle the "coil spring" question

I stumbled across a thread on one of the Cummins forums where several members posted pictures of their coil sprung Ram 2500s loaded with various weights.

  • The problem with the half tons is the spring rate, not the type of spring. Ram just proves that with the 2500 gasser IRS with clearly higher rates and capacity.
  • Still have to see a large load on the back of a coil sprung 2500.. Like a truck camper, not a fifth wheel.
  • There were a few doubters :)

I think the fact that the 1500 (with it's rear coil springs) can be a bit saggy when loaded probably contributed to that thinking.
  • That is impressive. I didn't think Ram owners knew how tho use Photoshop :) Was there any doubt that the coils would hold up to their rated weight? I probably skipped that thread. The new style sure looks good in silver (my favorite color).

While interesting, it sounded like a Ford commercial.
  • The only problem I had was the left to right lean when carrying our 8 ft camper. This was on a 1962 GMC 2500. This was a while ago.
