Secondly, if the strap is loose, you can see it in your mirror (if you look that is)
Oh come now, Mr Sidecar, being the sensitive person that I am, I think your trying to hurt my feelings.:)
Are you saying that some folks do not look in their mirrors on a regular basis? Thinking about all the good drivers on the road, I think this must be the norm.
Maybe there should be a separate thread about the bad habits some drivers have that our posters have witnessed over the years. Most folks could relate to that topic.
Anyway, I did not realize that TCs used to come with ratchet strap tie downs when they first came out. I am sure a good quality strap would serve your needs for many years.
Keep us posted.

I believe you mis-read my comment...
Back in the day (long ago when TC's were Avion's and a few other now defunct brands), tie down's were simple lengths of chain with an 'S' hook at the ends coupled to hardware store turnbuckles and another 'S' hook at the top to engage the camper eyebolt (they used eyebolts in the camper bodies back then, not metal angle tie down points. Not sure ratchet straps were around way back then. Certainly not the smaller ones that are sold today.
