I'd run a WD hitch....
I want to throw another option at ya.
consider this, a 25 ish ft camper gets SMALL in a hurry with a family, especially one use to a 40 ft er.
You could simply downsize your fiver. Puma makes a nice bunkhouse fiver that only has two slides, one in the living room and a separate bunk house. You will lose 8-10 ft and have a package that grosses at around 10k and is dry about 7500.
There are several of the "half ton" fivers that would fit the bill for your situation.
