I run around town without a WD and go camping with a WD, the stability is night and day different.. any I don't have a whimpy suspension.
I have never experienced sway with my trailer and no WD.
The proposing is much greater without the WDH, even with good/new Bilstein shocks.
My WDH might add 3 minutes to the hookup/un-hook procedure so it's not a burden.
Take a look at the TT in my sig (click the link), it's a great floor plan for kids while not being too large. I haven't yet been to a camping spot that I couldn't get it into that I could my 18CK (we don't campground camp, all forest service dispersed camping).
I highly recommend the equal-i-zer brand hitch, it's simple, effective, and easy to setup.
Advertised tongue weight can be very misleading. Mine was advertised as ~650lbs on a 6K dry weight. In reality it was over 1K without water and closer to 1300lbs with water. I have done some moving of things and am down to ~1150-1200lbs. Dual batteries (a must if you don't camp with hookups) add tongue weight, full 30# propane bottles add tongue weight.
If you have the proper tow rig, your tongue weight is setup correctly, and the WDH is setup correctly I don't see the need for the more expensive "sway eliminating" hitches. Personally I have nothing to eliminate, even at 65 with a 35 mph cross wind.
