Not sure about the OP's truck in particular, but many SRW 1 ton rear axles are de-rated SOLELY due to the single tires. In those cases, upgrading the tire essentially upgrades the axle capacity.
Engineering wise, that is, not legally. But then again, if we stick with the book any modification to the axle, including a rear brake pad with a different coefficient of friction from OEM, can void the axle rating in court...
