Tires

Anyone run Nitto Tire on their Tow Vehicle? I have a 06 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually. Pull a 34ft 5th wheel. I am looking at the LTX Michelin but stopped at Big O Tires and they were trying to sell me the Nitto tires but they also carry the Michelins LTX. Give me your opinions.

  • "Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. (TTHA) is the wholly-owned North American subsidiary of TOYO TIRE & RUBBER CO., LTD. of Osaka, Japan. Headquartered in Cypress, California, TTHA and its group companies manufacture, import, sell and distribute Toyo and Nitto brand tires in the U.S., Canada and Mexico."

I have 12,000 mi on a set of Made in the USA Nitto Crosstecs on my PU. Liking them so far.

I have Toyos on other rigs and I'm happy with them.
  • Seems like a good spot for this question.

Aren't Toyo and Nitto made by the same company?????

I just went from Toyo Open Country M/S to Michelin M/S 2+,Great traction! They are really great on wet roads. I currently don't have the spin issues I had with the Toyos taking off on wet pavement their grip is great!

I just re-shoe'd my 1-ton SRW with Hankook Dynapro ATM tires. So far good but they really have not been put to the test yet. Priorities for me are load rated E along with good traction on less than desirable road conditions; i.e. snow/ice. I was very interested in the Nitto Terra (or Dura) Grappler as they are supposed to be excellent but fell slightly short in regards to usage on snow/ice, some like them, some don't.

The Hankook Dynapro have lots of manufacturer siping which was the clincher...this and they are still considered an All-Terrain tread.
  • Good but on the high end cost wise. There are lots of good choices starting with Commercial TA, thru Firestone Transforce to Michelin. Let google be your friend. Web sites like Discount tire and Tire Rack can be very informative and have customer reviews. Read them and then decide what is best for the money in your mind. You might also look at Hankook tires. They constantly get good reviews and offer attractive prices.
  • I run the Nitto Dura Grappler on my dually and really like them. There are many good tires out there now and not saying Mich isn't a good tire but you really don't have to spend Mich money to get a good tire.

You didnt mention which Nitto, I would assume for your TV it would be the Dura or the Terra Grappler... If the Terra ask for the G2, it will replace the old model and the G2 comes with a mileage warranty.
