Titan XD Towing with the 5.6 V8

GVWR of over 8500 is all it needs to be class 2b, your or anyone else’s opinion doesn’t matter.

FYI only based on its GVWR. What is its RAWR and FAWR and how does that compare to other class 2b trucks? Is that rear end semi floating or a full floater? Those are what determines the difference in class in most peoples books who use trucks as trucks, not GVW or Wikipedia.

I’d say it will serve you very well. Like to hear some long term reliability on them but no reason to believe it won’t be as good as your old one with more power, gears and improved chassis.

Yes anw7405, I really do not to go up to a 3/4 ton if not really necessary. Four the next 4-5 years it will be my daily vehicle for 98% of the time. Once retired, then hopefully we will be towing a lot more often. Have enjoyed our current Titan a lot as it tows our 7,500 lb. TT easily. The few times I've noticed any tendency to sway are with swift crosswinds pushing our 32' TT which could happen with any truck. We used to pull with a '99 F250, but it was a beast to park & our in current garage it would not fit at all! I also know enough to limit what we tow to well under our payload and max towing ratings. Ride comfort is important, MPG while towing always sucks but I've learned to expect that. And as far as looks go, to each their own! Ksss may not agree, but I find the beefy XD version pretty appealing.


Thanks for all the feedback! I will be test driving a new F250 gasser soon, but am leaning heavily toward another Nissan.

Let me say looks cant be a concern if he is wanting a Nissan. Sorry but that is one confused looking pickup.

If you're retiring and planning on traveling a lot with it I would reconsider one of the big 3 HD models. The XD is a bit of a tweener but frankly more heavy half ton than light HD.

My personal experience with Nissans have been that they're awesome vehicles, but the reputation the last few years has not been so stellar. I would feel better about the gas XD than the diesel version.

If it were me the biggest concern I would have is the short wheelbase of that cab configuration. The only complaints I’ve seen with the gas version is the transmission shifting and rear end ratio. I pull a 32ft TT with the crew cab diesel truck without issue. FYI this is a class 2b truck not class 2a(half ton)

Don't get too wrapped around the wheel with the plethora of responses you're going to get telling you how you need to analyze every bring down to the toothbrush your using.
You know what to expect. Little more power, little more stable then the truck you have, plus that new car smell.
32' trailer is a lot for a half ton, even a big one like the XD. If you know how to handle a trailer and ain't running mountain passes in the hammer lane, it will be a good solid tow rig.
Caveat, I can't speak for their reliability or issues personally, just know they're a great heavy half on paper.
