All this discussion on extensions and weight limits is exactly why I bought an 8.5' TC. This way my stock hitch is right below the door. easy access, no issues towing anything I want to tow, within reason. I have to admit I only trade between my boat and enclosed utility trailer. Occaisionaly a bike rake. But no hitch issues. While a little bigger bathroom, or extra space around table would be nice, they are not deal breakers for us. I also like shorter rig for jockeying around in tight places, or it the woods. Point is shorter campers give you a lot of options and have worked a long time for a lot of people.
When working with smaller floor plan, all a matter of tradeoffs and priorities. That my 2 cents worth.
