I would start with a quality Aluminum Trailer with Tandem Torsion Axles, Disk Brakes, 16" Wheels and Radial Tires.
I towed our 5500 lb Boat with a 48" extension behind our previous Truck and Camper for years.
I never once had an issues. My wife and I shared the driving on several of our Tampa to New Orleans
trips with the boat.
