Being a new TT owner I didn't realize what a PITA it would be to manually Crank the tongue jack on a relatively heavy TT, especially for a 71 year old. So I'm seriously considering replacing it with an electric unit. I watched a couple of videos of guys replacing their manual tongue jacks and in one video the guy finds that the hole pattern on the replacement is does not match his tongue. Stupidly he mounts the jack with only 2 bolts. Looked like an accident waiting to happen to me. So the question is: "when purchasing the new jack how do I determine the pattern will match my tongue?" Is it just a case of the diameter of the current jack's tube or is there more involved?

Interesting...If you have a three hole hand crank mounted jack...seems that any of the power jack options will match up. The three I have bought did.Barker, Atwood, Ultra-Fab..etc. The only difference may be the tube size (2" or 2 1/4").Get the 2 1/4". If needed it's easy to hog out the opening to slip it in.

I'm with downtheroad on this. I think they're pretty standard. I've replaced a few jacks, some power, some manual and never had then not line up.

That is why you have to be careful about watching Youtube videos, if you notice he mounted the jack turned all sideways, if he had mounted it correctly and face it forwards the holes would line up. The fact that he only uses 2 bolts instead of 3 is proof enough he has no idea what he is doing.

If that's the case how do you move the motor to one side if you have to clear propane tanks or some other restriction? My propane tanks are mounted extremely lose to the jack.

Get the powered jack and read the instructions and you will have no problem installing it. One of the best mods I ever made to the TT.

Best investments I ever made with my TT were an electric tongue jack and using a drill to retract the frame jacks. My first year it was common for us to stop at the shower house on the way out, so I wouldn't stink up the truck. I learn so many tricks that first year by watch others at the campground.

Yep, not much of a problem solver. My first thought would be to re-clock it just to see if it would line up.

True, the three holes are not equidistant from each other. On my UltraFab I needed to rotate one of the units mounted and then when the replacement, due to the dealer messing mine up, came it did not need to be rotated. Not a big problem if it is needed.

If it is necessary to change the position of the powerhead relative to the post and flange (in order to
provide clearance between powerhead and LP gas bottle or LP gas cover, or more clearance between
the lift gate and the powerhead) loosen set screws and rotate head without lifting off coupling.

I agree with you that he does not know what he is doing. It will probably fail or bend soon with weight on it. Sounded like he was in a hurry to finish and did not care. JMO
