Tongue Jack Inline Switch

Hey Everyone,

I have a Bulldog electric tongue jack. I have it wired to the battery instead of directly to the camper. I have a Perko switch on the RV for the batteries, but that doesn't shut off the power to the jack. Most of the time it shouldn't matter, but the jack has a light on it that could get left on. My question is, is there some kind of an inline switch I could put on the jack so I don't have to disconnect it from the batteries?

Thanks,
Deano
  • A simpler solution would be to wire the jack to the Perko switch terminal instead of the battery.
  • My Perko has 3 terminals. Which terminal would I attach it to?

    Thanks,
  • Take the bulb out of the light?

I've never found the light in my Barker jack very useful, it's so tiny it hardly illuminates anything, even after putting a much brighter led bulb in it.

Sure, a keyed battery disconnect switch like this is perfect for this application ... insert and turn the key to switch on power to the tongue jack, remove the key so the switch is off and it can't be left on. I keep my trailer parked here at the house on the driveway during the season and the tongue is just feet from the sidewalk where those with "sticky fingers" could potentially fool with the tongue jack so I added one of these keyed switches to prevent this.

Perko makes several different styles so........

One that is HOT when ON and not when OFF

The terminal that connects the trailer wiring to the switch.
