I am 6 feet tall and I load and unload them standing flat footed on the ground. I lower the electric tongue jack down after I unhook, unload the bikes, and then level the camper. When it's time to load up, lower the tongue jack, easily load them up, and then lift the tongue jack. I also have the benefit of standing on the tailgate if I ever needed to reach something, but I've yet to ever need to. I have an unobstructed turning radius, which was very important to me. I didn't want to have to worry every time I backed up whether the truck bed would hit a bike tire if I turned too sharp. Or if I ever buy a bigger bike, I don't have to worry if it will clear. The instructions for the carrier you linked to specify that your turning radius will be reduced and that is with only 2 bikes.
