Tow vehicle F150

New F150s wouldn’t have an issue with a TT at 6000 pounds...total weight or payload.

The F150 is available with many different payload packages. These overlap some of th F250 payload packages.

Yeah there's some payload overlap on paper, but the F250 is a much more capable truck with stronger components.

Half tons and heavy duty trucks overlap on price these days, OP. You get a lot more truck for the same money by going HD and they work just as well as daily drivers and family vehicles. Go check out all three, pick your favorite flavor and enjoy.

Just my personal opinion: if you go gas I'd lean towards the Ford, if you go diesel I'd pick the Cummins first and the Dmax second.

I think that we need more detail as to why you were not happy with the F150. I pull quite a bit more than that with mine and am satisfied. How was your truck configured? How about the hitch? What year model was it? What are you expecting? I don't think that anyone's half ton will exceed a properly equipped and set up F150 so recommending something in that range is difficult without a better description of what went wrong.

The F250 is a more solid and forgiving platform for not much more money up front, at least for the gas version. It does give up some ride quality and fuel economy though.

I was at the local dealer yesterday. Was told there are some changes to the availability of the 150 Heavy-Duty Payload Pkg. for 2019 vehicles. It is now optional on XL and XLT (Base/Mid) only. Not available on other trim levels.

For used trucks, the aluminum-body F-150 is a good choice. My average SuperCab has 2019# payload. There’s the Heavy Duty Payload Package, if you can find one used.

You can also look at the GM trucks with the Max Trailering Package. Titan XD has 2000-2500 pounds.

New F250 in my Sig has 3110lbs of payload. Just upgraded from an F150. If it's payload your after, the 1/2 tons will leave you disappointed.
