I guess as well as an idiot i am also naive...i did not even see a post where someone called me an idiot...but thanks for the folks who gave me their opinions, i am looking forward to my retirement traveling and hope I do not run into people that will call me names....thanks again....i think i am going to love my new truck...

If you have not purchased the truck yet get a F-350 vs. the F-250. F-350 has more payload capability for basically the same cost.

We are all idiots for spending what we do for this hobby that we have. Heck, the most expensive toy I have including all my vehicles and RV's is my bass boat.Am I an idiot for wanting a fishing boat that is capable of running triple digits on water. Yep! That's the great thing about this country but it's slowly going away because of people thinking their way is better than some else or because they are offended by a smell or sound. I know I troll a lot but when it comes down to it I love all vehicles. Gas , diesel, trucks, or cars, I love them all and when I troll I'm just doing it because I'm a competitive person and like most that are what I have is always better. LOL! But to call someone out as an idiot because of what they drive or tow with is uncalled for. Where's the love people?

I don;t see you having a problem towing that fifthwheel. I have a 2012 F250 Diesel 6.7 and My camper is #9760 Dry and GVWR of 12,145 even If I loaded that up I still feel comfortable towing. I just purchased mine 2 months and I just got on the highway and it tow really well. No sway and it felt better than pulling my Travel trailer. I am not over weight however the truck does squat in the back a couple inchs so I my air bags will be installed in about 2 weeks. No the truck doesnt really need them I just want a better ride. Plus I have a boat, and load up 2 atvs in the bed and the air bags will help with that as well.

Please remember that there are two critical factors for fifth wheel towing.

You asked about pulling. Yes, its one of the factors, but the one which usually gives folks the very least amount of trouble.

So be assured that your truck CAN pull whatever you buy.

BUT, it is the second factor that messes up more people than anything else.

Factor 2: and the very most important one; Can your truck CARRY the weight of the fifth wheel and hitch equipment?

A lot of the say 16 inch single rear tires on new pickups are rated in the 3,000 pound load range. So with two tires you have 6,000 pounds (maybe a couple hundred pounds more) total carrying capacity.

But, these same tires are already carrying the weight of the truck, so that 6,000 pounds is reduced to about 3,000 pounds or so available to carry fifth wheel pin weight and weight of hitch equipment.

So watch the LOADED hitch weights of any fifth wheel you get into. A rule of thumb is to take the gross weight rating of the fifth wheel and multiply that by 20 to 25 percent. That should give you the max total pin weight of any particular fifth wheel.

Why is the guy an idiot for picking the truck he wants and asking if a trailer way smaller than the max rating of the truck would be a good fit for the truck? In my opinion, the idiots are the ones that insist he should buy the biggest trailer possible then buy a massive truck to tow it.
