Towing above 65

I am of the belief that with the PROPER equipment, and experience, that higher speeds are not any more of an accident waiting to happen than lower speeds.

Is that why the DOT estimates that more than 1,115 lives would be saved by a max speed of Truckers to 68mph.The truckers for the most part have the right equipment and they have the experience and training along with the medical card to be on the road.

They also see the stuff that can and does happen that occasional towers usually don't. I'll bet half the people on this forum don't meet the medical requirements to get the card and that is not a slam. A simple C-Pap disqualifies as does insulin dependance diabetes and a host of other things.

Speed kills. It's not your ability you have to worry about all the time but the other guy running 85+ when your going 80.The wreck is far worse the higher the speed your going.

Agree. Someone else is usually involved in that lesson. There is always the unexpected and certainly professional drivers can attest to that. I would assume that their skills, reflexes and abilities exceed that of most RV folks.

Still of the opinions that bigger is not always better, and faster is rarely better with it comes to towing without incident.

Took route 2 across MN and ND, traveled 60 mph to western MT.

Came back through Wyoming and SD on the interstates to Indiana running 65 mph, to run with the the trucks.

No problems either way.

If you drive faster it is because you want to drive faster.

I could see a carryover into any truck towing. With the electronics in modern pickups it would not be that difficult.

As an old trucker you should know the hazards that appear in a blink of an eye and a higher rate of speed intensifies the effects it has on a towing vehicle with a tractor trailer being more stable than a travel trailer pulled by a pickup.

The trucking industry knows that and proposals are on the board for governors to be installed on all trucks limiting Max speeds.

Yep, someone else caused thier crash, not the speed they were going.
