When you're towing the primary impact on fuel economy is due to aerodynamics - maybe like 80%. Weight has some impact but mainly when accelerating or hill climbing. The least is rolling resistance. The frontal area of the Silverado is more so that impacts you a little extra as does it's increased weight. I also suspect that with the more powerful engine you're using more of that extra power availability. I don't know your mileage on the Silverado, but it won't be substantially broken in until you get over 20k mileage. You're current vehicle is plenty capable for your use.
