What was wrong with it? Besides the junk OE clutch.
Dual mass fly wheel went out. With all the fixes out there to go to a single, I lost complete faith in it. Also heard a lot of ticking noises when in neutral. My opinion is that it is a weak trans for that Cummins.
Agree, and same junk clutch over 10 years later. Fortunately it’s an easy 1 and done upgrade. My only regret is not going dual disk right away, on my second single because I was too cheap to buy another new flywheel.
Trans itself is pretty bulletproof except in high torque applications like drags or sled pulls, but it is a noisy, growling trans. After 160k miles though, mine makes the same noises and shift s the same as the day I put a solid flywheel in it.
I’m actually very happy with the trans other than it’s low gearing. It needs a 7th gear. After 10 years I still go for 7th when it’s screaming down the highway. Brain assumes I’m in 5th still for a moment....lol.
