I'll never understand why or how some folks think a clattering diesel sounds better at full rpm / full boost sounds better or "happier" than a healthy V8. Let er rip, and instead of being concerned about the extr $50 in fuel that day, be glad you saved a huge amount of money and hassle by buying a gasser.
And I do drive a diesel 3/4 ton every day. The economics of even an efficient diesel don't work out. Not even on a highway miled used for business vehicle.
