Only 3 trips a year I agree. I don't think the swap is worth it for 3 trips a year either.
In the OP's case I don't think the swap will make up for the lacking 6.2 motor.
In the end the OP may need to go diesel just to get the performance he wants. The GM 6.0 and Ford 6.2 with 6 speed transmissions are very capable however if the OP is not satisfied with his current 6.2 performance the next step is to go diesel.
Once you experience diesel performance first hand its hard to go back to gas. Especially a small block gasser.
