I'm still surprised it took so long for anyone to come to the game with a 1500 diesel. CAFE is going to force these trucks on us, like it or not. Personally, I look forward to more diesels.
Yes you will see a lot more diesels.Whether like the RAM who knows, but I see more 3 litre ones happening.
That is a very good point and I wonder if Nissan and Toyota will offer something like a HD 1/2 ton like Ford does. If they did, I would consider one. If the payload was the same as the gas models, I'd stick with gas.
x2.
To repeat myself I cannot understand why everyone hasn't joined Ford on the "heavy half-ton" bandwagon; seems so many consumers out there are right on that line, where a 3/4ton is overkill but half-tons fall just a bit short on capacity for their usage.
There's probably more to the story-- maybe profit margins are better on the 3/4 & 1-tons and the makers don't want to cannibalize sales by making half-tons more attractive. Just a guess.
At least among RVers, I see real appeal of "heavy halfs" but maybe, in truth, RVers are a small percentage of truck buyers and if 85% are happy with "regular" half-tons they aren't going to get crazy for 15% of us.
