Who says he's in the US? He doesn't disclose his location.
Depends on where you live. In the US, a Hilux/Tacoma compact truck only has about 1000lbs of payload capacity, including passengers. The truck is rated higher in markets outside North America if I'm not mistaken, but that's probably due to the use of different components in the suspension and drivetrain. Here in the US, a Euro-spec or Asia-spec Hilux would not sell well due to the rough ride; people want their compact trucks to ride like luxury cars, so the suspension is presumably softened and the payload capcity is de-rated.
Of course these trucks are just simple daily drivers for the most part in the US, where in other countries they are worked like we use our 2500 and 3500 series American brand trucks.
