I looked on the door jam of a 2016 Silverado and didnt see anything about payload. Looking at extended cab not the huge one. So are all the truck campers out there using a 2500 series or bigger then? Jeez this only weighs 1500 lbs and is a popup. I dont think they make em much smaller. Im lost what to do. The reason I dont want to get a 2500 series is they do not discount them if you want to lease. A 2500 series leases for around 600/mo and a 1500 around 300. Thats a big difference.
All vehicles now are required to have a loading sticker which is located on the drivers door jamb. It will have the tire information as well as a line that says "the weight of all passengers and cargo may not exceed...". It doesn't specifically say "payload is.."
The 1/2 ton truck may handle it if it really only weighs 1500lbs but is that what it will weigh loaded? Or is that a fictional dry weight again? The dry weight of a camper doesn't include any options, battery, propane etc so the actual empty weight is usually several hundred pounds more than advertised to start. A single camper will easily add 3-400lbs in food, clothes, dishes, camping gear etc. Need to carry water? That'll need a couple hundred pounds more payload. It adds up fast. And you still need to account for your, and any passengers weights, and then you want to pull a boat.....
