You can add helper springs and/or airbags. They make them. Some forum members run upwards of 2500lbs on their Tundras, F150's and 1500's, and claim that they have no problems.
Shocks don't carry the load. The shock mounts are not designed to carry a load. Stick with airbags or helper springs if you decide to go down this road. You may need heavier-duty shocks to dampen bouncing from the overloading.
This is what you CAN do. I am not saying that you should, or should not, do it. That has to be YOUR decision.
