Toyota tundra?

For those mentioning larger brakes are better in 25 series trucks......as mentioned maybe in this thread and others for sure, brakes on the truck stop the truck. Brakes on the trailer, stop the trailer. If you lose one of them, you will be stopping in a longer distance! Most of us do not have RV trailers that meet any states limits on being light enough to not have brakes on the trailer. Unless you are talking a pop up. And even then, depending upon the TV, I would recomend brakes on one of them. If over the tv's gvw by 500-1000 lbs or so, then get brakes on the trailer, no matter the size of trailer. I did this on a single axle trailer that weighed 2000 lbs. Amazing how much longer the 1ton duallies brakes lasted, and for that matter, how much quicker it stopped!

Payload is the what you have to worry about when pulling trailers, you either have enough, or you do not! Power is not an issue with todays TV's vs 30 yr ago.

I have a 20 foot trailer that weighs about 5,000 pounds. The max weight is 6,800 pounds. I traded my half ton for a new 3/4 ton. The truck pulled fine but payload was the issue. I have yet to tow with my new truck but I feel so much safer with the larger brakes and the sturdier frame. I pull a lot in the mountains.

I have the 2012 tundra. Great truck, lots of power. Had five fords before that. I personally would not go over about 26 ft with a half ton. I have had several, and much bigger will be overworking the truck. Not to say it wont do it, but running things at the max is how to wear them out quick. If you only tow it 100 miles a year, might not be worth the bigger truck. If you want to travel a lot, I would suggest a slightly smaller trailer or a slightly larger truck. good luck and have fun.

Good luck with your choice and as mentioned above, the first thing to find out is if the 7800 is dry or gross weight. IMO, use the gross weight (GVWR) as your guide as trailers quickly fill up and get much heavier than the "dry" weight.

+1..Find out if the GVWR of the trailer is 7,800 lbs first. If it is, I would not hesitate to tow it with the Tundra. My trailer GVWR is 7,400 lbs, and I have loaded it and tossed a pretty good load of wood in the truck, and the Tundra had zero issues.

When you start shopping you will quickly find that the Tundra will not be rated for the tongue load, with passengers and "stuff".

You are definitely getting into 3/4 ton territory.... But the good news is the F150 HD has the load capacity you require, if you do not want a "heavy duty" truck. If you are buying just to tow, go 3/4 ton, if this is a daily driver, I would suggest at least a look at the F150HD.
My wife / driveway / garage prevent me from over-buying.
