Trip Report to Luray Virginia and Gettysburg Pa
Well we are home from a great vacation to Luray Virginia.
Ready to leave the house
We left Laconia New Hampshire late Thursday afternoon and made it to Milford Pa on Rt 209 for the night.
Our original idea was to spend the night in the Wal Mart parking lot but signs on every light pole stating otherwise made us decide it was not a great idea.
DW found a small campground 15 minutes away in Montague NJ, Cedar Ridge Campground. We think she woke him up with the phone call but he said there was plenty of room and to just come on in. We settled into a site with power and had a nice, safe nights sleep. I was never able to find the owner the next morning to pay for our site, so we will be putting it in the mail.
Here is our site at Cedar Ridge, mind you when we got in the night before it was pouring and pitch black.
I really felt bad that we had to just leave but we will track the owners down somehow.
Our next leg of the journey is through the Delaware Water Gap on 209. Love this stretch of road. Then onto Rt 80 to Rt 33 to Rt 22 to Rt 78 to Rt 81. Rather busy on some stretches but not to bad all in all.
I found that i was getting braver or maybe more confident with my truck and trailer. I had done a lot of work on the truck in the past few months and it just felt good. So in some areas i was actually hitting 65mph. LOL Gas consumption really gets bad so i find 60 is comfy. I added a new Curt 2 1/2" receiver to accept my 36" extention and it felt so much stronger pulling the trailer with the bikes and all out gear.
The truck itself has Tork Lift Stable Loads with HellWig Springs and Bilstien Shocks. So i saw a huge differance in the handling and stability of the over all unit.
We arrived in Luray about 3pm Friday at the Luray KOA. Nice place and super clean. Except for the morning when someone trashed the bathroom. I cannot believe people think that is an ok thing to do.
Anyway, we had site 19, right on the field with a nice view of the mountains.
I loved the view of the mountains when the sun was setting. It gave them a nice reddish glow.
Please note, the maximum photo width=640.
