Ditto - the road isn't suitable for large RVs (MH or TT). Consider staying at Roper State Park and making Mt. Graham a daytrip.
Excellent idea! Roper Lake State Park is just three or four miles from the entrance to the Swift Trail (the road that takes you to the top of Mt. Graham). - campersuzidExplorerDitto - the road isn't suitable for large RVs (MH or TT). Consider staying at Roper State Park and making Mt. Graham a daytrip.
- GpnAZExplorerThanks Mike for the trip report and pictures. Looks like another great area in AZ to go camping and exploring!

Thanks for the great trip report Mike.
Looks like a real nice area. Just my type of camp ground. I will have to add to my list of camping places, Three pages long, lol. You do have to get a fishing licence for the lake correct, for out of state visitors?

here is a link regarding fishing licence http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/licenses.shtml
Thank you for the the Az fish and game link.
I'll read it over.

Hey Mike,
Looks like a great trip and good times had by all.
How did the 6.2 do pulling in that elevation?
Thanks for taking us along.
The 6.2L did great. No problem at all even with a full fresh water tank. - Butch50ExplorerHey Mike,

Looks like a nice place to camp. Would it be possible to pull a fairly large (like 36 ft.) TT up there?
I wouldn't recommend it. The signs on the road limit the entire length to 40 ft, but the website recommends a maximum length of 26 ft. Short two-axle RVs, like my truck camper or a small class C, are perfect for this drive. I did see several trailers up there, but they were short ones like 19 ft and pop ups.
Agree...I have a friend who had to tow a 20' work trailer up there. He said it was a very tough tow due to the switchbacks and wouldn't recommend trying to tow anything longer. This is on our list too, but will be tent-camping it.
And yes...fishing license is required for the lake there. At least with the new AZ fishing regs you don't have to worry about a trout stamp anymore. :D
