Truck - family of 5 and 65lb dog

One person on this site at one time, had a trailer that could handle a dozen dogs in built in crates.
My malamutes did not like riding in the bed on a 100+f day, put crates in trailer, they hopped in. Same on a below freezing trip from Sand Point Idaho.
As I said earlier, your mileage may vary on where is best for the dog(s) you have. Not sure my two King Charles Cavalier's would be happy in a crate in the trailer. But the malamutes by their own behavior let me know where they wanted to be.
As far as humans go....a y of the crew cab pickups will work. All three have plus and minuses.

Crew cab, split front bench seat, and I'd never put an animal in the trailer.

If you are set on a pick up truck. Then be sure to get a front bench seat and you will have space for 6 passengers or 5 passengers and a dog.
Otherwise consider a van. Nissan 3500 van may work for you.

That might be ok in Alberta, but the poster is in Texas, it gets way to hot in a camper for a dog in Texas.

When we moved to AK, I had a tandem axle utility trailer with some sides and a tarp over it to take some essentials until our container showed up. No room in camper, no dogs in the back seat for a week. Trailer was full save for the back 4’. 2 dogs, in crates, tied down and boxed in with the plywood sides and a view of where we’d been through the steel mesh ramp door for 2400 miles. Dogs were fine, but one guy who decided to tell me how cruel I was at a gas stop almost wasn’t fine…

3 kids in back seat, two adults and 4th child in middle front bench on a crew cab. I had a 96 GM. new ones are a bit bigger than what I had.

We used to put two 100+ lb malamutes in crates in the bed. Sometimes in trailer over the axels of the trailer. Once we tried that spot, found it to be the easiest to get dogs in crates.

Your mileage may vary on where to put the dog(s) so they are happy.
